PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares and aids patients to understand the importance of the prescribed procedures, including obtaining pertinent data, history and written consent;
  • Administers topical eye medications or diagnostic drugs, e.g., I.V. Fluorescein as ordered by the attending ophthalmologist for the purpose of conducting various diagnostic procedures;
  • Performs specific ophthalmology diagnostic procedures using the ophthalmic equipment;
  • Assists ophthalmologist in the performance of laser procedures;
  • Informs/instructs patient about safety and caring for the eye at home, and reports any patient condition needing urgent care to Senior Ophthalmic Staff;
  • Ensures that all equipment and accessories are functioning properly and the materials and supplies needed in the procedure are available, including cleaning and disinfecting of equipment;
  • Monitors the inventory level of consumable drugs, medications, and other supplies;
  • Encodes procedures and prepares results;
  • Maintains appropriate records and generates reports as required, e.g., Monthly census of procedures, Annual Reports, etc.; and
  • Performs other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Senior Ophthalmic Staff and or Department Head.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, board passer
  • With or without experience
  • (2) Full-Time positions available
  • Can start ASAP
