Course Description
Collegiate nursing education at the Philippine Women’s University was initiated in 1950 with a post-basic course in nursing for graduates of hospital schools of nursing. In response to a very inspiring clamor to offer absic nursing program, a feasibility study on “The Projected College of Nursing in the Philippine Women’s Univerisy” by Anastacia Giron Tupaz was tested out. In 1960, the PWU College of Nursing started and offered a five year integrated curriculum leading to BSN. This basic generic program aims to prepare professional nurses for service in changing society.
The PWU School of Nursing is the first school in the history of nursing education which includes praticum in its curriculum.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing prepares students for a successful career in the health and wellness industry. Students are trained for their caring role in the prevention of diseases, promotion and restoration of health, alleviating suffering and recovering in patients. The BSN’s Related Learning Experience component is conducted at Rizal Medical Center as based hospital and other specialized hospitals. Students are exposed to actual and the real life role of nurses in the medical field.
