Renewing Your Professional License in the Philippines

For all RNs to continue practicing in the Philippines, you must renew the PRC ID before it expires. Online options are offered by the PRC – we detail these here.

PRC Online Renewal Service

On September 1, 2018, all PRC regional branches and satellite offices implemented the online renewal method, including the One-Stop Service Centers for OFWs (OSSCO). It now allows online application, appointment, and payment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. An existing bank account that may transfer funds to any of the PRC’s approved payment facilities may be needed, depending on your selected payment method.

CPD Units for Nurses

The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) bill mandates that professionals participate in additional formal and informal learning opportunities before they can renew their license. According to the PRC, nurses will only need 15 CPD units in the 3-year renewal term, equating to 5 units per year.

CPD Transition

PRC allows professionals to comply with unit requirements during a transition period, where the following must be observed:

  • The CPD requirement does not apply to OFWs.
  • For the first renewal cycle following earning their license, newly licensed professionals are not subject to the CPD requirement.
  • The various CPD councils shall reduce CPD credit units to a minimum of 15, with a maximum of 15.
